The task
The bank’s long-term archive stores millions of important documents, including the company’s crown jewels: historical photos, certificates, and museum objects. To date, the digitalized data take up a total of over 20 Terabytes of storage.
The specialty department that manages the archive had reached several capacity limits using the current OpenText solution. Onboarding new document classes was complicated and expensive, internal services could not be integrated without issues, document OCR was not working properly, and full-text search was very slow. In addition, the company wanted to follow its corporate strategy of migrating to web-based solutions. In short: the company needed a modern archiving concept that was flexible, scalable, fast, and efficient.
This is where dataglobal came in – with a few challenges that needed to be overcome. The solution was meant to guarantee that all data would migrate seamlessly and without modifications to the new dataglobal CS archive, that additional documents could be added from multiple sources, and that the system would be available company-wide – with clearly defined access rules and in compliance with all legal requirements, such as retention periods.

dataglobal provided a user-friendly web application in the form of dataglobal CS. The app is flexible, convenient, and powerful. It is flexible because it is not limited to a particular location. Employees can access the app from their office at home. It is convenient because data can be saved using drag-and-drop or copy-and-paste, and several documents can be edited at once. It is powerful because it offers an improved search feature that is as intuitive and fast as Google’s. The search feature simultaneously searches for full-text and index data throughout the entire archive.
